Start Earning from Twitter via Twitter Ad Network - Be a Magpie !

Written on 12:02 PM by Rahul Mathur

Hello Humanoids . Twitter , one of the coolest and most used web service on Internet these days . Yep , even I am on Twitter and i suggest you to make a Twitter account if you don't have one .

Like every other Tweeter , I am on Twitter to make new friends , keep in touch with my friends , know more about some great people and advertise my blog (... what ? ) . But now , there is a better reason to be on Twitter - Money , yes you saw it right . Now you can earn money via twitter .

The so called " Twitter AD network " - Be A Magpie , sends an AD in the form of a tweet ( from the registered account ) and you get paid for it ! The AD tweets are sent 1 in 5 tweets ( default ) and are topic specific . And the most important thing - you get paid monthly in terms on How many people follow you , its not about how many you follow , so spamming won't help sir :)

So How does it work ?

Here's how it works

1. You define a tweet frequency at which you will accept magpie-tweets for your Twitter account. Given your current tweet rate does permit it, our service will try to find a matching magpie-tweet and twitter it.
2. Magpie-tweets will contain the hashtag (what?) "#magpie" and thus be readily identifiable from your other tweets.
3. For each sucessfully delivered magpie-tweet you will be rewarded in cash. Remuneration depends on the number of your followers and the popularity of the magpie-tweet's topic.

Let me tell you this that you shall get paid in Euros and if you have 100 follower you shall get only 3 Euros and you need 50 euros to get paid via Paypal , just like you get paid after you earn 100 $ in Adsense.

Simple , right ?

Before registering yourself ,  i suggest you to  PLEASE READ THIS  .

How do you see the future of such networks ?

I am not an expert but i can tell you that this can kill Twitter , yes . Now everyone will be Twittering for the sake of money and all you'll receive is spam .  But you can block them , right ? Yes , but what if everybody including starts doing it ?  God save twitter .

Start Earning !

Google Chrome gets an update to third beta ! [ MUST UPDATE ]

Written on 10:26 PM by Rahul Mathur

Hello Humanoids . Chrome is the  newly added web browser from Google who initially achieved success but then started loosing its touch due to tons of errors .But the developer team is back with a great beta .

I am writing this post , after i stumbled upon the Google Japan Blog , surprisingly people from Google Japan officially announced it yesterday , but Google ( U.S ) still hasn't updated it , that's why only few people know about it !

How to update Google Chrome ?

Open the web browser , and navigate to Customize and Control Google Chrome icon ( Top - right ) and then go to About . Here Google Chrome will automatically tell if you need an update or not and yes this time you do , so click on Update and it shall be updated pretty quickly.

I thought , i could fit in these screen shot if you don't mind  :   These are meant to show Chrome About before the update and Chrome About after the update .

First impressions ?

There hasn't been any physical changes , it is the same old Google Chrome and has no added features . Though , the performance seems better ( after i used it for half an hour ) , the speed is great and has less stability issues and i tried the recovering tab feature , which worked .

So what are the changes  ?

Here is the list of what exactly did change :

Security Update

  • This release fixes an issue with address spoofing in pop-ups. A site could convince a user to click a link to open a pop-up window. The window's address bar could be manipulated to show a different address than the actual origin of the content.

Security rating: Medium. This flaw could be used to mislead people about the origin of a web site in order to get them to divulge sensitive information.

Disclosed by: Liu Die Yu of the TopsecTianRongXin research lab.

Top Issues Fixed

  •  Scrolling with laptop touchpads now works.
  •  Improved performance and reliability for plugins (like Flash, Silverlight, QuickTime, and Windows Media). We fixed issues with video not loading, stopping after a second, and slowing down or freezing Google Chrome (100% CPU usage).
  •  Fixed the 'chrome has crashed' message when you close a tab that was showing PDF using Adobe Reader 9.
  •  We no longer store data from secure sites (they use https: and show a lock in the address bar) in your history. You can still search your history for the site's address, but not the contents on the page.
  •  Improved performance and reliability for people who use web proxies (thanks to griffinz for the fixes).

Changes to how things look and work

  •  The New tab, New window, and New incognito window options moved from the 'Control the current page' menu to the 'Customize and control Google Chrome' (wrench) menu. Thanks to Szymon Piechowicz for the patch.
  •  'New incognito window' always opens a new window. 'New window' always opens a new normal window. Both options are always visible on the wrench menu.
  • The spell checker works on text input fields and underlines misspelled words. You can now add words to the spell check dictionary so they are not shown as misspelled (right click on a misspelled word and choose 'Add to dictionary...').
  • The download behavior for files that could run programs (exe, dll, bat, etc.) has changed. These files are now downloaded to unconfirmed_*.download files. Google Chrome asks you if you want to accept the download. Only after you click Save is the unconfirmed_*.download file converted to the real file name. Downloads that you never confirm are deleted when Google Chrome exits.

I remember when i downloaded the second beta of the Google Chrome , there were lots of problems  , it was difficult to type in forums and editing , copy and pasting the urls from the url bar was a difficult task , but now all of this changed and this version is a MUST UPDATE .

Download the Google Chrome third beta from here . If you don't have it already , of course.

There must be some errors ( nothing is  error proof ) ,  i cant wait for somebody to find errors and mind you , have a look at the Google Chrome Blog's comments , this will be useful if you want to know the bugs and all that stuff . I am pretty much very happy with this beta , can't wait for extensions and toolbar support to arrive !

Now you can Link to your Favourite Part in Youtube Videos !

Written on 1:29 AM by Rahul Mathur

Hello Humanoids . Linking to a specific time in a video is a must for every video uploading website , for example Snotr has it , but surprisingly Youtube didn't have one but now they do !

This means you can now not only link to a YouTube video itself, but you can also link directly to a specific time within each video.

According to the Youtube Blog :

To create a deep link, append the following to the end of a YouTube video URL: #t=1m15s. This says to link to the time 1:15 - you can replace the numbers before the 'm' and the 's' with anything you like.

As an additional bonus, if you mention a specific time in a video comment, e.g. "haha 1:14 is funny", this will become a hyperlink. Viewers can simply click on the time and the video will automatically jump to the point you are referencing

I hope they make similar feature so that we can link to the comments as well , You can't have everything or can you..?

Stay tuned for more ,

So how did Google make the Chrome Logo ? Here is how !

I stumbled upon this image and i bet its worth the share !

So this is how Google made the Chrome Logo ?  Start guessing !

I looked into this image and found out this image was meant to signify :  Microsoft VS Google , weird.

Viswanathan Anand is Still the World Chess Champion !

Written on 10:31 AM by Rahul Mathur

Hello Humanoids . Chess is one of the greatest games ever made in my opinion and Indians tend to do well at this game and this man - Vishwanathan anand proves it every single time his is playing the game .

World Champion Viswanathan Anand retained the world crown by taking another draw with challenger Vladimir Kramnik of Russia in the 11th game of the world championship match in Bonn on Wednesday.

Anand, who led 6-4 after ten games, needed only a draw in one of the two remaining games to emerge champion once again. And he did the victory dance . Though his fans were bit worried when Anand lost the 10th game , if he hadn't lost it : he would have won it right there , but thats ok . The final score was 6.5 - 4.5.
Another proud moment for India !

Here is the image from the game :

According to Times of India ,

The 12-game final carries a purse of 1.5 million euros (about $1.8 million) and both get equal amounts regardless of the result on Wednesday. Hmm i see money everywhere , sigh .

Great job by Vishy , do you think he is the best Chess Player in the World right now ?

Want your site to be indexed the way you want ? Add Meta Tags !

Written on 3:48 AM by Rahul Mathur

Hello Humanoids . First of all apology for not writing any post for past 6 or 7 days , my P.C, had some problems , but now its back and yeah I am back too !

By the way , I am writing this post for blogger/blogspot users . The Pro users must be knowing this , but more than 80 or maybe 90 % ( as far as i know ) of the blogger users don't have meta tags in their blogs . I have seen tons of post where people want the description and the title on Google Search exactly as they have it on their site , but they don't get it . Reason is simple - You don't have meta tags on your blog !

You must be wondering how to add meta tags in Blogger , its plain simple .

Here are some technical aspects of Meta Tags and keywords from Our Blogger Templates :

While there are lots of factors involved in building quality blogs that can draw huge traffic in, having simple things right in the beginning is as important. One of this simple thing is getting your blog indexed properly with the right description & keywords to optimize search engine rankings (known as Search Engine Optimization or SEO).

To get information, search engines use automated software agents called spiders, crawlers, robots, or bots to collect the a few words from a site or blog (typically the URLs, blog name, and blog description, and maybe some words in the early part of sentences or paragraphs) that will later be used as keywords to index the blog.

Because you cannot be certain which words are taken as keywords pertaining to your blog, it's most likely that your blog won't be indexed properly in search engines - in the worst case, your highly relevant keywords might not even be used to index your blog. When this happen, searches on keywords relevant to your blog may have your blog buried at the far end of the list of thousands and millions of pages. What a waste!

To have a control of what is read by crawlers on your blog to be indexed, you have to build what is called a META tag - basically a bunch of words that makes up the most relevant description and keywords of your blog. If the META tag exist, this is what the crawlers will read and index and get displayed on any searches related to your keywords.

So how do you make Meta tags and Meta Keywords ?

This website makes  meta tags a piece of cake !

So how do i add the code  ?

Firstly , you should know if your template is a html template or an xhtml template , if you are using the traditional blogger template then you have the html template , but if you downloaded it from a site recently then you have a xhtml template . Remember.

Once you are sure about it  ,

Add the Codes you receive accordingly   to your template , by reaching Edit HTML from your Blogger Template ( Layout ) .

Add the code above the  <"/head> tag ( without the inverted commas of course ) and presto !
You are done !

After few hours or maybe few minutes start Googling your website and see the results for yourself !

Till next post ,

Make Google Chrome look like Safari and Firefox !

Written on 8:46 AM by Rahul Mathur

Hello Humanoids . Lack of customization is one of the biggest problem faced by most of the Google Chrome users unlike the highly customizable Firefox , you can make your Firefox look like Chrome or make it look like Safari ! Today , i googled up for some Chrome plugins to make it look like Firefox or even Safari !

I randomly went through tons of websites , but result were not satisfying enough .  But then , i found something which very few people know but can be very useful :

Safari Theme for Google Chrome  :

How to Install the theme  :

  •  Extract the files from the archive using your own extraction tool. Ie: WinRAR
  •  Go to: (Replacing USERNAME with your username)

Vista - C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\0.2.149.27\Themes
    XP - C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\LocalSettings\AppData\Google\Chrome\Application\0.2.149.27\Themes
    • And backup your existing, Default.DLL file (Just incase anything goes wrong)
    •  Copy over Default.DLL from your extracted files into your Themes folder.

You can download this theme from here

Firefox Theme for Google Chrome  :

How to Install this theme ?

You can follow the steps above , if you still have any problem , click here  .

You can download this theme from here  .

The themes look great , but i have very few time left till i go offline . I thought of telling you about it ,

Hopefully this helps and remember to backup your original dlls .  Save your bookmarks or favourites before doing this .

    India's Mission to Moon : Step 1 Successfull !

Written on 9:47 PM by Rahul Mathur

Hello Humanoids . Today , on 22nd October 2008 at 6:22 A.M, to be precise , the rocket PSLV-C11 or Chandrayaan-1 was launched by a team of India scientists of ISRO at ISRO owned Satish Dhawan Space Centre .It took 18 minutes for the space craft to reach the Earth's orbit , everything went as they planned.

Here is the launching video :

Today was a historic day , lets take a look at some of the FAQs

Is the Chandrayaan-1 ( the spacecraft ) going to the Moon directly ?

Chandrayaan-1 will orbit the Earth till November 7 and on November 8 it will start its journey towards moon .

Here are some important things you should know , via IbnLive.com

At the earliest possible opportunity the spacecraft that will orbit 100 km above the surface of the moon will drop its Moon Impact Probe (MIP) which will land on the lunar surface carrying India's flag, among many scientific instruments. After that, the spacecraft will also activate its cameras and other instruments on board.

Chandrayaan-1 will orbit the moon for two years. It carries 11 experimental payloads, five Indian and six from abroad - the two from NASA, three from the European Space Agency (ESA) and one from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

What are the objective (s) of this mission ?

"Chandrayaan-1 aims to achieve these objectives through high resolution of the moon in the visible, near infrared, microwave and x-ray regions of the electromagnetic spectrum," mission director M. Annadurai told IANS.

A three-dimensional atlas of the lunar surface and chemical mapping of the entire lunar surface are the other objectives of the mission.

Should Team India be proud ?

Yes since India is the 5th country after U.S.A , USSR,Japan and China .

I saw a news channel few minutes back and a reporter asked " IIT  ( which is the MIT of India )  has no participation in this mission , which is unthinkable as the brightest brains of India are from IIT "  , the reply came " Because they are just worried about getting the money , they just missed the ultimate satisfaction of making history " .

Kudos to the scientists who spent days and night on this mission ,  they must be pretty satisifed as they spent most of the time for the welfare of the country , its because of people like these a country progresses .

Android is now available as open source !

Written on 8:26 AM by Rahul Mathur

Hello Humanoids . Just 30 minutes back ,yes its a breaking news Dave Bort announced on the blog that Android is now Opensource ! Developers can now add their apps and make Android a better OS .

Google’s Rich Miner told Michael Arrington :
This is probably the largest repository of open source code that has been released at any one time. We have worked on the things we thought were important. But there is still a lot of work to do in all aspects of the platform, from tying it into different carrier networks. multimedia, speech recognition, and the graphic subsystems.

    You can grab the Code
    from here

Here is the post from Android blog :

Today is a big day for Android, the Open Handset Alliance, and the open-source community. All of the work that we've poured into the mobile platform is now officially available, for free, as the Android Open Source Project.

You'll be hearing a lot about Android devices. We've all put a lot of effort into the first Android device, and I'm really happy with the way it turned out. But one device is just the beginning.

Android is not a single piece of hardware; it's a complete, end-to-end software platform that can be adapted to work on any number of hardware configurations. Everything is there, from the bootloader all the way up to the applications. And with an Android device already on the market, it has proven that it has what it takes to truly compete in the mobile arena.

Even if you're not planning to ship a mobile device any time soon, Android has a lot to offer. Interested in working on a speech-recognition library? Looking to do some research on virtual machines? Need an out-of-the-box embedded Linux solution? All of these pieces are available, right now, as part of the Android Open Source Project, along with graphics libraries, media codecs, and some of the best development tools I've ever worked with.

Have a great idea for a new feature? Add it! As an open source project, the best part is that anyone can contribute to Android and influence its direction. And if the platform becomes as ubiquitous as I hope it will, you may end up influencing the future of mobile devices as a whole.

This is an exciting time for Android, and we're just getting started. It takes a lot of work to keep up with the changes in the mobile industry. But we want to do more than just keep up; we want to lead the way, to try things out, to add the new features that everyone else is scrambling to keep up with. But we can't do it without your help.

What will you do with Android?

Thats exactly what i wanna ask the developers , what will you do with the Android ?

Hello Humanoids . I always wanted to know : Who is linking to my blog ? Is somebody writing the same content as i do in my blog and not giving credits to me ? If you are a blogger , you must have thought about that several times . In other words , this is also called Plagiarism , well most of the times its not intentional due to most of the immature users here on internet while some of the cases are worth dealing with . My verdict  :

Fantastic software  , totally loved the light version . Imagine kicking the icons with your Recycle Bin !  Fun , eh ?   Though the biggest problem is lack of customization . In other words , you cant add or edit any damn thing except rotating the icons, while if you spend a buck on them you get tons of interesting features and this is where Bumptop gets ahead of this application , tragic .

Another bad point is the shiny blue background , darn my eyes .The graphics don't look so cool ,  this must be an old software but the graphics aren't so bad , but hey we are in 2008 , buzz .

And remember one important thing ,  the activation key can work on 3 PCs simultaneously !

Remember to have at least 512 MB Ram on your Vista and 256 on your XP otherwise its gonna be tough running this thing !

Download Real Desktop from this link

Hope you start having fun with your 3D desktop ,

    • Sachin Tendulkar : The Greatest cricketer alive !

Written on 1:54 AM by Rahul Mathur

Hello Humanoids . This month will be full of cricket , scores and records shall fill the newspapers in India , which without a doubt leaves little space for other sports .

Why am i writing a post on Sachin Tendulkar today ?

Because , Sachin Tendulkar is the biggest sports personality ever here in India and since cricket is like India's favorite game , there is no way i shouldn't have written this .

Sachin Tendulkar just two minutes ago broke the record owned by Brian Lara for maximum number of Runs ever scored in  Test Matches , which makes him the King of Batsmen in this Gentleman's game .
One more fact : While Tendulkar took 152 matches and 247 innings to reach the landmark, Lara accumulated the runs in 131 matches and 232 innings.

Here is just a part of all the Records Sachin Tendulkar has :

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar) (Marathi: (born 24 April 1973 in Bombay, Maharashtra, India), often referred to as the Little Master or the Master Blaster, is an Indian cricketer widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. In 2002, Wisden ranked him the second greatest Test batsman of all time next only to Sir Donald Bradman, and the second greatest ODI batsman of all time next only to Sir Viv Richards.

Tendulkar is the first player to score 10,000 runs in One-day internationals, and has the most centuries in both Tests and ODIs. He is one of the three batsmen to surpass 11,000 runs in Test cricket, and the first Indian to do so.

Tendulkar also has the record for maximum number Man of the Match trophies and yes he has more records than any other place , he has most career run , most career centuries, and highest partnership .

What all happened when Sachin broke the record ?

All the news channels flashed :  SACHIN TENDULKAR BREAKS THE RECORD !

Seriously , now we are going to see the same thing for a few days now , sigh .

Oh  , back to the question , umm what happened was the viewers at the stadium gave him standing ovation , there were firecrackers which blew continuously for more than 5- 8 minutes and his team members were laughing at the amount of firecrackers they spend on this guy  every time he makes a record.   Sachin did his traditional "  Thank you everyone  ! "  thingie with his bat .

Sachin sure does a round of applause from everyone who watches Cricket . Great job , Sir .

So , is there anyone who can beat this record  ?

Nope , people may be optimistic about Australian Player Ricky Ponting's chances of  overcoming Sachin's feat but its somewhat Impossible  .

You can read more about his achievements from some Sports website ,  i did my job of telling you about the records and  yes even if India loose this Test Match , there is no body who will blame Sachin . Now he has a reason  , right ?

UPDATE   :   Added a video of Sachin making the Record ,  have a look :

The White Tiger wins Man Booker Prize 2008 !

Written on 12:43 AM by Rahul Mathur

Hello Humanoids . It's a great news and a moment of proud for people living in India because Aravind Adiga just won a Booker ( Fiction )  for his critically and commercially acclaimed novel : The White Tiger .

So what's the story all about ?

Born in a village in heartland India, the son of a rickshaw puller, Balram is taken out of school by his family and put to work in a teashop. As he crushes coals and wipes tables, he nurses a dream of escape - of breaking away from the banks of Mother Ganga, into whose depths have seeped the remains of a hundred generations.

The White Tiger is a tale of two Indias. Balram’s journey from darkness of village life to the light of entrepreneurial success is utterly amoral, brilliantly irreverent, deeply endearing and altogether unforgettable.

Looks Interesting ! Now i am curious to know about the author himself !

Aravind Adiga was born in Madras in 1974 and was raised partly in Australia. He studied at Columbia and Oxford Universities. A former correspondent in India for TIME magazine, his articles have also appeared in publications like The Financial Times, The Independent, and The Sunday Times. He lives in Mumbai.

The publishers must be jumping with joy ! ?

Obviously , The win is a first for publisher Atlantic; although they had books shortlisted for the prize in 2003 with The Good Doctor by Damon Galgut, and in 2004 with Bitter Fruit by Achmat Dangor.

The Cover Page Looks like this :

Who all were shortlisted with Aaravind Adiga 's novel for the Booker's ?

      • Sebastian Barry : The Secret Scripture
      • Amitav Ghosh : Sea of Poppies
      • Linda Grant : The Clothes on Their Backs
      • Philip Hensher : The Northern Clemency
      • Steve ToltzA :  Fraction of the Whole

Indian's seem to do well at Booker's , right ?
Yes  ,though  partially true  . Adiga is the fourth Indian born-author to win the prize, joining compatriots Salman Rushdie, Arundhati Roy and Kiran Desai who won the prize in 1981, 1997 and 2006 respectively.

       I need Some Facts !
Adiga becomes the fourth debut novelist, and the second Indian debut novelist, to win the award in the forty year history of the prize.

So how much does the Winner and Runner up Authors get ?

The Winner gets jaw dropping   £50,000   .  Yes read it again and again  ,  after this he would never need a job and would survive the financial crisis that's been going on these days without any worries , what so ever .
The Runner ups ( which are 5 in Total )  get   £2,500 and a designer-bound edition of their book . Well at least they got something for free , unlike you !

So that's all about the Man Booker Prize , will keep you further updated with more results . Untill then watch this video where Aravind Adiga speaks on his win   :

So that was yet another India shining moment , I hope they keep coming in like this forever !

Features , the most important thing about a Gadget :

      Multimedia and online features

Wi-Fi : The PSP has built-in Wi-Fi capability, allowing it to connect to any wireless Internet service, including those with WEP and WPA encryption (but not WPA2).

Video playback A variety of freeware and commercial software products can readily convert files to PSP-friendly formats and resolutions (MPEG4 or H.264-AVC, up to 720x480). Many DVDs now include a PSP-compatible Digital Copy as well.

LocationFree TV: Built into the PSP is the ability to stream live TV from a Sony LocationFree TV device, which is Sony's take on the Slingbox. As long as the PSP is in a Wi-Fi hot spot, it can stream the video and change the channels on a LocationFree box, even if it's halfway around the world.

Audio playback: The PSP doubles as a decent music player, with the ability to play DRM-free MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, and ATRAC3 files, along with support for album art. Shuffle and repeat modes are supported, along with a visualizer function.

Photo display: The PSP can display JPEG, GIF, and TIFF photos stored on the MS Duo card--individually, or as a slide show

Skype: As mentioned above, the PSP 3000 has a built-in Skype client, which can be used for free Skype-to-Skype calls as well as calls to and from regular phones (if you invest in paid Skype add-ons)
PS3 "Remote Play": The PSP can log into a PlayStation 3 on a home network or via the Web, and stream any video, audio, or photos stored on the PS3.

Web browsing: The PSP has a built-in Web browser, but it's the one place--more than games--where you'll really lament the device's lack of a touch screen (or even a numeric keypad).

RSS reader: Separate from the Web browser is an RSS reader, but it could use an overhaul to make it easier to use and add your own feeds.

Internet radio: The PSP has a dedicated Shoutcast client that offers free streaming Internet radio.
Search: There's also a dedicated icon for doing a Google search.

Network update: The PSP has upgradeable firmware, and Sony has been diligent about adding additional features, fixes, and updates every few months. The upgrade is as simple as choosing the option from the system menu.

Battery Life : According to some reviewers , the battery life hasn't upgraded much .

The Three versions of PSP 300  :

Sony PSP 3000 Ratchet and Clank Entertainment Pack: This limited-edition $200 bundle includes a silver PSP 3000, Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters UMD game, National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets UMD movie, 1GB Memory Stick Duo card, and a voucher for Echochrome (a downloadable game available at the online PlayStation Store).

Sony PSP 3000 4GB Memory Entertainment Pack: This limited-edition $200 bundle includes a black PSP and a 4GB Memory Stick Duo card.

Sony PSP 3000 Core Pack: This "no frills" version includes just a black PSP 3000 for $169. Silver and Pearl White versions should follow.
